Tapanappa is the 21st century chapter of an adventure that pioneered the modern era of the Adelaide Hills wine region.
Tapanappa is the name that Brian Croser has given to his ongoing family-owned, fine-wine enterprise based in the Piccadilly Valley where it began more than 40 years ago as Petaluma.
The late ripening of a small crop in perfect, cool, dry and sunny conditions, has again defined a very special Chardonnay, from Pat and Ted’s Vineyard on Mount Bonython in the distinguished Piccadilly Valley terroir.
The 2023 Piccadilly Valley Chardonnay has a mesmerising green-yellow colour.
The terroir distinctive apple, nectarine and floral aromas also have a hint of exotic fig and spice.
The flavours are intense, the texture significant and the cool year acid is apparent with a cleansing finish.
The aroma is very fresh and delicate, and the flavours are of sweet fruit balanced against the significant cool year freshness and grapefruit finish.
This is a very special wine, the product of a very cool late vintage.
Pear, lemon, a little flint, and sprays of hay and sawdust.
Pure of fruit and integrated of oak.
It tastes as young as it is; it’s not raw, but it’s really just building itself into an adult wine.
