Spring Bay whiskies are hand crafted by the sea on the East Coast of Tasmania.
They are produced using on the finest ingredients including locally sourced rain water and premium Tasmanian barley.
The barrels are exposed to seas mist from the nearby Spring Bay.
The name derived from the majestic 1500 acre sheep station just south of the distillery.
Rheban overlooks Maria Island and a beach of the same name.
Spring Bay’s Ex-Tawny Rheban Cask Strength Single Malt is a marriage of 14 barrels – 12 Tawny, 2 Porto, this whisky is rich, decadent and complex, in a harmonious balance of fruit, sprit and oak.
This whisky has a rose gold colour.
Sweet and complex aromas suggest butterscotch and Christmas muscatels.
Sweet caramel syrup and plum pudding spices join a clean, bright alcohol explosion which spreads across the palate to settle in and glow with some soft oaky and tobacco leaf tannins.
Hints of cherry cordial and some nutty undertones that clearly displays the quality of both the spirit and the wood in developing harmony.
