Description

Winemaker Corey Ryan and Viticulturist Simon Cowham are the ‘Sons of Eden’, who both learned and honed their skills in the Barossa Valley.
The team focusses on varieties that the Barossa produces to the highest standards, such as Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre from the Barossa Valley as well as Riesling from the Eden Valley.
Sons of Eden wines are crafted using carefully managed and selected fruit as well as a mixture of traditional and modern winemaking techniques.
The wines are paying tribute to the pioneers, characters and rich traditions of the Barossa region.
To qualify for the Remus blend the vineyards need to over 50 years of age and managed sustainably.
A story that has intrigued us for years is the fable of the legendary founders of Ancient Rome, Romulus and Remus.
These twins were abandoned at birth and reared by a she-wolf.
Romulus murdered his twin in a fit of rage over the naming of Rome, the city which both had built.
Legend presents Romulus as the stronger, more powerful of the brothers, while Remus was more refined, focussed and elegant.
We believe the twins’ characterise the distinctive and unique flavours and attributes of Shiraz from the twin valleys – the Barossa Valley and Eden Valley.
To qualify for inclusion in this wine all vines must be 50+yo and managed sustainably.
This comes from three vineyards, two 60+yo, the third 80+yo, so there’s no issue on that score.
The palate of the wine tells you the vines are in good health.
The tannins are polished and fine, the fruits sombre but composed, the balance good.
