Description
Only 52 tonnes of precious Islay barley were malted to create the Octomore 09.3 edition.
Grown in Irene’s Field on the Octomore Farm in 2011, this single malt later then distilled and filled into 134 casks.
A predominantly second-fill, the gentler influence of the wood allows more of the barley flavours to push through the legendary peat smoke.
The resulting whisky is a rusty, sepia colour.
Aromas of malted barley, Horlicks come across the nose with black tea, heather wildfire, golden syrup, and lemon sponge.
These aromas follow through to the palate with flavours of smoked team, malted barley, peach melba, sea spray, golden syrup, and heather flowers.
A smoky, toasted oak finish with rye bread and salt.
