Description

The Bruichladdich 18 year old 2nd Edition continues the sweet wine cask influence begun with the 1st Edition’s pioneering Bourbon/Willi Opitz bottling.
We have in this bottling again American oak fused with the more flavoursome French oak – but this time the casks contained the rare, sweet wine from Jurancon in the Pyrennean foothills of south-west France.
Together they make another amazingly mellow and profound bottling.
Charles Hours Clos Uroulat is an organic vineyard in the foothills of the Pyrenees in France.
His decadently rich Jurancon dessert wine is made from the exotically-named Petit Manseng grape – which benefits from an unusual micro-climate at high altitude, where the warm sea breeze and oceanic climate allows the legendary Noble Rot to develop and the grapes over-ripen and take on rich, raisin-like characteristics.
The whisky itself has distinctly sweet aromas of preserved fruits and spice with a smooth creamy mouthfeel packed with flavours reminiscent of Christmas cake.
