Description
Bomberger’s Declaration Bourbon honours the legacy of the former distillery known as Bomberger’s in the 1800’s and later as Michter’s in the 20th Century.
The 2021 release of Bomberger’s is a robust Kentucky Straight Bourbon at 108 proof with a broad spectrum of distinctively rich characters.
For the aging of this release, the distilleries maturation team chose special barrels, some of which were made from Chinquapin (Quercus muehlenbergii) oak that has been naturally air dried for over 3 years.
While similar barrels were used in the 2019 and 2020 releases of Bomberger’s, this year their production team opted to accentuate rich characters and depth by adjusting the char levels of the Chinquapin oak barrels thereby resulting in a wonderfully distinctive Kentucky straight bourbon.
The resulting bourbon is a rich, mahogany brown colour.
Aromas of toast and buttery caramel with some plum.
The palate goes full throttle yet remarkably smooth with some burnt sugar and a bit of both milk chocolate and dark chocolate.
Robust with complex depth finish.
